In the pursuit of a dream or goal, are you wishing your life away?

Scarlett once dreamed of a life where she owned her own land, where she had a little cottage, could raise her horses and grow her own vegetables. She dreamed of waking up to an orange sunrise, breathing in the fresh spring air, drinking her tea and sitting on the damp grass while her dogs lie contentedly by her feet. She dreamed that this slow morning would invigorate her for the rest of the day, raise her inner vibrations and allow her to feel inner peace and self love.

The true dream? Inner peace and self love.
The deeper (and false) belief? I will only get inner peace and self love if I have my own land, my little cottage, my horses, my dogs, slow mornings and tea to drink with a sunrise.
Any time your feelings of joy, peace, contentment or happiness are conditional on your external environment, you are living in a false reality.
All your energy and focus will go on future aspirations and achievements. And there will not be enough left over to truly savour your life now.
What can you do instead? Dream about something where even the journey to getting there is absolutely thrilling! Make sure each stage is one that is aligned with you and full of purpose. You will easily enjoy being there.
What does this do? The joy of each stage will mean you are driven by gratitude for where you are instead of the pain of not having achieved your dream yet.
Ask yourself what little steps you can take now to make you feel happier, more at peace and excited to be alive?

So much love for now…
